General…

I mean, has anybody been watching the debates lately? You’ve got a governor whose state is on fire denying climate change. It’s true. You’ve got audiences cheering at the prospect of somebody dying because they don’t have healthcare. And booing a service member in Iraq because they’re gay. That’s not reflective of who we are.

I am in loveee with this :)

Click on the photo for the full text of Dr. King’s I Have a Dream speech.

The memorial (although its dedication has been postponed) is a well-deserved monument to an inspiring and revolutionary man. It is important to remember, however, that a black president or a national monument dedicated to MLK do not signify racial equality. Dr. King’s speech delivered 48 years ago is shockingly relevant today, and his words are always a reminder that we must be vigilant in the long and difficult battle for equality. Racial discrimination is a shameful stain on our great country’s fabric, and we all have a duty to carry Dr. King’s message forward to right the wrongs, both personal and institutional, committed because of skin color.
